bears inscription by Gladys Phillips [wife of artist W.J. Phillips] 'This painting was acquired by my husband in the early 1940s when he traded one of his pictures with Nick for an example of his work. My husband often traded his work with other fellow artists in order to acquire an example of their work for his own substantial collection. This painting hung in our home until acquired by John P.
